Evonik Prize 2020

Evonik fosters young talents in the chemical industry

Once again, Evonik awarded two independent prizes for outstanding master- and doctoral theses in the field of chemistry and pharmacy at the University of Münster.

The Evonik Prize 2020 was awarded at the Institute for the Faculty of Chemistry and Pharmacy together with the Young Chemists Forum (JCF) Münster. The award for the best doctoral thesis went to Dr. Paul Mehlmann. He developed an innovative concept that could be used for the synthesis of superacids for the first time.  The second prize went to Linda Quach: As part of her master's thesis, she researched the development of a more environmentally friendly alternative to carbene insertion in B-H bonds. With their achievements, the winners do not only contribute to academic progress, but also open doors for new and enriching possibilities in the field of agrochemistry and pharmacy. Thus, months of work and motivation paid off!

The JCF Münster showed great commitment and provided catering during the event, which created a comfortable setting for exchanging ideas and information after the award ceremony. "It is important to discover talents as early as possible in order to provide them with targeted support.”, said Dr. Christoph Weckbecker, head of the Innovation Networks at Evonik. "And for precisely this reason, laying the cornerstone for a successful professional future is a matter close to our hearts.”
