How has your life changed after moving to Germany?

In short - in every possible way. I had to learn a new language, get used to a new social and work culture, build up a new circle of friends and maybe the most difficult part - get a German driver's license. Not so easy! But I'm looking forward to the change and see it as an opportunity to broaden my horizons.

Rheinfelden is in a border triangle. The surroundings are rather rural - what is it that particularly excites you about this location? Or is there something that surprised you?

I've always been a “city mouse” but moving has made me discover a new love for hiking. The area offers many opportunities to plan short day trips to discover beautiful new places.

What do you do in your free time? After moving to Rheinfelden, did you discover the region and maybe found your favorite places?

I play the electric guitar, read books, enjoy cooking and of course, there is sometimes 'Netflix & Chill'. After moving, I discovered a lot of the region. A short list of my favorite places in the region - Engelberg in Switzerland, Colmar in France and Titisee-Neustadt in the Black Forest.

What is it about specialty chemistry that fascinates you?

So far, I have worked as an application engineer in the USA and as an optimization engineer in Germany and I find both fascinating. In terms of applications, it is the sheer variety in which our customers from a wide variety of industries use our products that has always impressed me. When it comes to production, I am fascinated by the complexity with which a safe and quality-oriented company is run.

Which Evonik location would you like to visit?

Short answer - as many as possible . But I would prefer to visit our location in Yokkaichi, Japan, because I personally find Japan very interesting and definitely see it as a bucket list travel destination.
