Leaving the investment banking world following my heart with an open mind as a born American to another culture and working environment. Nowadays, I embrace openness more than ever, and encourage everyday my team from a leadership perspective to do so as well. I am proud of everything I have achieved. And I am grateful to all women in the past who, with their effort and often sacrifice, paved the way for some of us to make our choices today, to live in freedom and to be able to exercise our rights. Unfortunately, progress toward gender equality remains slow. COVID-19 has not only affected negatively woman career developments but intensified the challenges that woman already faced: In many families it is still a matter of course that the women are the ones who are currently taking on childcare, home schooling, etc. at the expense of their careers. How can we use our Leadership in the corporate world to contribute to change? Standing behind each other, support each other with mentoring and sponsoring, advocating flexibility for both parties – women and corporations – and fixing the first broken rung to provide the young generation of woman equal opportunity to achieve Leadership positions. Ich bin stolz auf alles, was ich erreicht habe. Und ich bin allen Frauen aus der Vergangenheit dankbar, die mit ihrer Anstrengung und oftmals Opferbereitschaft einigen von uns den Weg geebnet haben, heute unsere Entscheidungen treffen, in Freiheit leben und unsere Rechte ausüben zu können. Leider bleiben die Fortschritte auf dem Weg zur Gleichstellung der Geschlechter langsam. COVID-19 hat nicht nur die Karriereentwicklung von Frauen negativ beeinflusst, sondern auch die Herausforderungen verschärft, mit denen Frauen bereits konfrontiert waren: In vielen Familien ist es nach wie vor selbstverständlich, dass die Frauen derzeit Kinderbetreuung, Heimunterricht usw. übernehmen – auf Kosten ihrer Karriere. Wie können wir unser Leadership in der Unternehmenswelt nutzen und zur Veränderung beitragen? Two weeks quarantine before meeting the first customers in China is less time for 499 things to do. But in the meantime I have become better on juggling four balls and started working on five. My first visit to Shanghai after leaving the hotel was very intense with many great impressions such as trying out an augmented reality smart glasses you can use for remote diagnosis or even commissioning. This digital hardware supported in in matter of fact end of May by starting up our recovery plant at our Austrian site in Schörfling. Spending ten days in the quarantine before meeting first customers in China, I am surprised how normal the new normality already feels. Social media quickly makes you lose your feeling for room or for geographical distance and keeps you in permanent contact with friends and family. One hour of sport a day can also be easily mastered in a hotel room as one of 499 things you can do.
