Can you tell us briefly what your responsibilities are?

I am working for Market Intelligence, and the ultimate goal of this area is to improve the decision-making process. Therefore, I am responsible to build and develop a market strategy for our product lines customized with the needs of the region.

What do you like most about what you do?

I enjoy diving deep in the understanding of the markets. I also put together the information to create the bigger picture, which allows me to make connections between our customer needs and solutions. The possibility to work with so many types of markets, from automotive to medical, keeps the daily activities fresh and very dynamic.

Can you tell us something about the opportunities that Evonik offers?

As Evonik does business in many countries, it is important to have employees who think globally, therefore the company offers employees the chance to gain experience working in another country. Evonik gave me the chance to have an assignment in the US, which has been a great experience, professionally and personally.

What does that say about Evonik?

I think Evonik has the flexibility to adapt to the needs and wishes of their employees and to offer the opportunity to develop and grow. This flexibility is, of course, a two-way road; I needed to be flexible too. However, I believe it is important to be flexible and to grow with the changes. I am sure the way I started this assignment is going to be completely different from the way I will finish it, and I look forward to seeing what that outcome is.

How did this change of position effect your daily life?

Well, my life in America is completely different from my life in Brazil. I welcome the change and I really like this new challenge. It is an endless process of learning…I am being introduced to a new culture with different habits, a different language, different television and radio programs, so many types of sports other than soccer, and of course, a new and exciting job.

What do you find most challenging about working at Evonik?

My work involves a lot of research and analysis, so the biggest challenge for me is not to lose focus. Another big challenge is to look ahead. What does the automotive, aerospace or 3D printing market look like in five to ten years? Marketing intelligence is deeply connected to the future.

Can you tell us a bit more about the main product you are involved in?

VESTOSINT® polyamide 12 powders are especially suitable for metal coating, lacquers and composites. Typical markets are, for example, parts for the automotive industry and medical supplies. VESTOSINT® 3D is a high-tech component for 3D printing, that opened up a completely new market with exciting possibilities. It’s our job to be aware of the trends that are going on worldwide and know what the markets are going to be like in the future.

Is there an Evonik type of candidate?

I believe creative people fit very well to the Evonik standard…because when we work together, we embody the company’s DNA: providing creative solutions to our customers.
