Can you tell us briefly what your responsibilities are?

I am responsible for the commercial and technical activities in Brazil within the business lines Silica and Silanes for the following markets: rubber, plastics, construction and technical powders. One of the products I represent is Dynasylan®, which is used in the wire & cable industry. A segment that is growing considerably in Brazil.

What do you like most about what you do?

It is very exciting talking to different customers in different regions of Brazil, about various applications of our products.

Can you tell us something about the team you work in?

I work in a team with a high level of commitment; people take their responsibilities really seriously and help each other out when needed. We share the same objectives, share a strong focus on the customer and speak with one voice. There are around 10 people in my team, with roles varying from marketing and sales to customer service. The team is led by a Business Director.

Can you give an example of when team spirit was important?

Team spirit and the synergy is important to help us how to deal with customers and their problems. One of the greatest achievements I have been a part of at Evonik, also was an example of teamwork. We started supplying for a rubber company after three years of preparations and negotiations. It was a joint effort of the marketing, sales and technical departments, developing a Silica-Silane portfolio for this specific client that helped us win the business.

How does collaboration impact your work specifically?

When everybody has the same focus, targets are easier to achieve.

What do you find most challenging working at Evonik?

Negotiating with different customers, internally and externally. It is both challenging to keep our existing customers satisfied and to acquire new customers.

Is there an Evonik type of candidate?

An ideal candidate should be creative and disciplined.

What advice would you give to someone thinking of joining?

It’s a fantastic opportunity to develop yourself.
