As part of the internal competition “Evonik One Culture Initiative” in 2019, Evonik employees around the world had the opportunity to develop concepts that support Evonik's corporate values. The response was overwhelming: Within four weeks, more than 13,000 employees had participated in this brainstorming session. More than 300 ideas were submitted, including eBuddy.
The idea is simple and efficient at the same time: Employees help their colleagues to find straightforward solutions for digital issues. Behind the eBuddies are employees who, in addition to their full-time jobs, provide their colleagues with advice and support on a voluntary basis for questions concerning IT and collaboration.
This not only allows them to expand their own knowledge, but also gives them the opportunity to connect with other eBuddies and exchange ideas about the latest technologies and digital topics. The eBuddy concept puts teamwork into practice and helps connect Evonik colleagues across hierarchies and functions.
After an internal vote, four speed-up conferences were held in Europe, America and Asia - each of them was attended by a board member. eBuddy was voted among the top 5 in the German round and since then has since been fully implemented and housed with the #enjoyIT program run by Evonik’s IT Academy.
On the occasion of the (German) anniversary, we will celebrate this major milestone on February 18, 2021 together with all committed Evonik employees.
