Evonik engages young students with Open Days at sites in Shanghai

From October to December, ten Open Day events was held at the Evonik Shanghai Xinzhuang site and Multi-User-Site-China, welcoming over 300 students from six universities and ten academic faculties.

The visitors included students from prestigious universities such as Fudan University, Shanghai Jiao Tong University and East China University of Science and Technology, as well as vocational colleges, including Shanghai Vocational College of Modern Chemical Engineering.

The Open Day events aimed to provide students with career guidance and insights from employees, helping them to better transit from school to professional life. These events further enhanced Evonik's brand image as a responsible and influential employer and are key part of the company's talent strategy, which designed to attract young talent to choose Evonik for their future careers.

With the voluntary support of over 50 Evonik employees, the event featured a rich range of activities, including a comprehensive introduction to Evonik, career insights from trainees and alumni, and advice from management leaders. To help young students gain a more hands-on understanding of career choices and development, the event also included mock interviews and tours of the manufacturing site and labs.

The event received positive feedback from the students. "Visiting the lab gave me insight into what a real corporate laboratory looks like. I was particularly impressed by how the interaction at the skincare lab seamlessly combined professional knowledge with practical application," shared a student from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.

David Cheng, Vice President of Human Resources for North Asia, highlighted the importance of these events in enhancing collaborations with educational institutions. "At Evonik, we believe that talent are key drivers in the sustainable development of an organization. These events demonstrate our commitment to attracting and nurturing talent, as well as building solid partnership with universities," said David.
