Evonik Earns Leading Employer for Women Award

Evonik’s Mobile Site Receives Leading Workplace for Women Award from Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama.

The Girl Scouts of Southern Alabama honored Evonik with their 2021 Leading Workplace for Women Award during their annual Leading Ladies Mobile Awards Reception.

The Leading Workplace for Women Award recognizes organizations that support girls’ and women's leadership and success. Equal opportunity in the workplace helps women reach their potential and allows the community to benefit fully.

"At Evonik, we believe that our people are our most important asset. We recognize that diversity, inclusion, and opportunity are essential to our ability to effectively carry out our overall mission of becoming the best specialty chemicals company in the world,” said Christi Bryan, manager Engage and Retain North America. “In order to do this, we focus on building a diverse talent pipeline and invest in the careers of women, minorities, and all employees,” she added.

Diversity Journey

In 2020, in partnership with external professional development companies, Evonik created Employee Resource Groups (ERG) in North America to focus on diversity and inclusion. The first regional ERG was groW – Women in the Americas. groW Americas is designed to formulate an inclusive workplace that connects, develops, and empowers women to achieve their full leadership potential and strengthen the future of Evonik.

Mobile Women’s Network

Introduced in May of 2020, the Mobile Women’s Network, a local chapter of groW Americas, has facilitated panel discussions, networking, and educational events for the women at the site. The Mobile Women's Network also aims to assist female colleagues in finding mentors for their career development.
