People Insights: Ahmed
Ahmed is a process engineer at Evonik’s Process Technology & Engineering group in Allentown, Pennsylvania. Learn everything from his favorite genre of music to what he would do with his time if he could retire tomorrow.
What is your role at Evonik?
My role mainly entails providing application engineering and technical sales support for Evonik’s SEPURAN® gas separation membrane business.
Do you prefer to work at home or in the office?
I enjoy a bit of both. I see working from home as a fully possible method in today’s world. But I think it is important to strike a balance either through office work or routine physical meetings to avoid working in silos and promote sharing of ideas.
What is your favorite genre of music?
It’s primarily driven by my mood, but I listen to a lot of music from the Middle East region, and I also have gotten into African music from Nigeria; their style of music is really uplifting and energizing.
If you were to retire from Evonik tomorrow what would you do with your time?
I enjoy mentoring so I would put a lot of my time into helping others. It could be either technical or nontechnical. I would also seek to travel, hike, and dive as many places as I can.
Did you pick up a new skill or hobby during quarantine?
I previously had started playing the ukulele, but in quarantine I have gotten the chance to practice more. Furthermore, I bought a bike during the summer of 2020, and now during the winter I’ve started skiing.
