Jennifer - A Student in Automation, Part 2
Do you remember Jennifer? Jennifer completed her internship in automation technology at the Hanau site. She is now a working student at Evonik and reports on what she has experienced since then.
Hello dear readers,
My name is Jennifer and I work as a working student in the "Process Technology & Engineering" department at Evonik. About two years ago, I already reported here on the blog about my way to my internship and my first experiences. Today I would like to tell you about my current experiences and projects as a working student.
At that time, I was faced with the challenge of familiarizing myself with new areas of responsibility such as industrial plants and process control technology, with which I had no contact before. Thanks to my dedicated supervisors, who were always at my side with advice and support, I was able to quickly find my way into the matter and develop solutions independently. As part of my internship, I was involved in an innovative project to test new standards, the goal of which was to easily and securely provide production data for new use cases in the field of plant monitoring and optimization. I liked this experience so much that I subsequently wrote my bachelor's thesis in the same field.
During my bachelor's thesis, we created the basis for a tool that I was able to further develop as a working student and which is now being used successfully in my first projects. This work allows me to be actively involved in the design and implementation of new software solutions. I work in particular in the field of front- and back-end development, where I am involved in exciting projects that require innovative approaches in software development. In addition, I support our teams in PIMS (Plant Information Management System) projects, where I can contribute my knowledge directly.
I am involved in the projects with a high degree of flexibility and can optimally adapt my working hours to my study schedule. It is particularly valuable that my exam times are taken into account, which enables me to achieve an excellent work-life balance. I also enjoy the freedom to do a large part of my tasks from the home office. This not only allows me to plan my day more efficiently, but also to significantly improve my work-life balance.
The flexibility and support I receive from Evonik, as well as the inspiring working atmosphere and collegial cooperation, are invaluable to me. I look forward to continuing to be part of exciting projects and to continuously expanding my knowledge. Evonik not only offers me the opportunity to apply my theoretical knowledge in practice, but also to actively contribute to the development of new tools.
Thanks for reading! I look forward to being able to tell you about my experiences and projects at Evonik in the future.
Best regards,
Jennifer
