Hello all,

My name is Mackenzie and I am currently an Employer Branding Intern, specifically helping with Attract and Recruit. I received my Bachelor’s of Science in Strategic Communication this past year from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. I was originally studying Digital Media, but decided to make a switch. Communications is a broad field, and still allows you to be well immersed in both the technical and business aspects of things.

When my time in undergrad was coming to a close, I was feeling frantic because I hadn’t found an internship yet, but due to the pandemic my university graciously gave us alternatives such as course replacements for field experience. Luckily, almost a year after I received my degree, I was able to intern for Evonik.

I had heard of Evonik, and have known individuals who have worked for the company in the same field as mine, so I had very few apprehensions. I wasn’t aware of the company’s global landscape, and that has been great to learn and also become a part of. I have also been able to learn more about what Evonik does, and how much it contributes to the chemical industry and commercial products.

During this time, I have had the opportunity to work with some fantastic individuals. I have gotten the chance to see how career events are organized with Tier 1 schools and how eager Evonik employees are to be a part of them. I have also been able to help organize and communicate with different employees participating in the 2023 campus ambassador program. I also get to see how campaigns are built and what goes into attracting future Evonik employees. Some of my hands-on tasks include assisting in constructing letters and articles that are geared towards students and future interns. One of my favorite tasks was viewing, analyzing, and presenting the information and data from employer review sites, such as comparably.

The culture of Evonik left a lasting impression on me. I have truly enjoyed learning and growing for the duration of my internship. I have great appreciation for those who contribute and work hard to make Evonik an exceptional place of employment. To any future SPE students, interns, etc.: This is a great place to learn and grow.

Best regards,

Mackenzie
