Chau Jin’s journey of becoming a plant manager
To Chau Jin, a career is a journey that entails continuous learning, taking on new challenges and overcoming one’s limits along the way.
After completing my PhD, I began my career in the areas of new product and application development. In 2012, I joined the Evonik SEAANZ Regional Development team, where I specialized in Innovation Management and Technology Scouting. Following the commissioning of the Evonik Methionine production site in 2014, I was given the opportunity to join the team as a Process Development Engineer. Later, I assumed the role of heading the site's Process Technology and Project Engineering team. In 2018, I transitioned to the Procurement organization, serving as the Global Lead Buyer for Fatty Alcohol, before ultimately taking on my current position as Plant Manager in 2021.
As the Plant Manager, my primary responsibility is to ensure the safe and efficient operation of the plant while meeting production targets. This includes establishing and maintaining safety standards and promoting a culture of safety among all employees. Additionally, I am responsible for minimizing plant downtime and optimizing production costs through effective management of resources and processes.
It is a journey that involves continuous learning, taking on challenges and overcoming limits.
