You have taken over as the head of Logistics at the locations in Wesseling/Lülsdorf, and now you are responsible for over 100 employees. How are you dealing with your new responsibility?

What I especially like about my new job in the area of Business Line Logistics is the enormous responsibility I have been given, and its direct proximity to the operating business. All of my colleagues and employees have been very welcoming and supportive during the transition to my new duties.

My experience from the last ten years in Controlling gives me a very process-oriented perspective on the organization and its processes. At the same time, I realize that Logistics represents a service for our internal and external customers. As a people business, the focus has to be on my team’s motivation, know-how, and readiness. So for me, the important building blocks of my responsibility are open communication, identifying and promoting employee potential, and creating transparent structures.

Together we are working toward the goal of sustainable customer orientation while permanently optimizing the logistics processes in the Rhineland and beyond.

What does a typical day look like for you in Logistics?

My work is often determined by current issues in the operational day-to-day business. It’s essential to make decisions quickly and to stay on top of all the processes and workflows. That makes it all the more important to build a wide network of expertise holders within the team, and to seek out interdisciplinary exchanges in the Group. As a department, we often provide a framework for logistical processes between the Business Lines at the location as well as throughout Germany.

I also plan, support, and drive exciting projects within Logistics, often in cooperation with different areas in the Group. Among other things, that means further developing our services to become more competitive. My analytical skills, structured work method, and solution-oriented approach come in very handy here.

What can people expect to find when they work in Logistics?

We are a dynamic, diverse, and experienced team with many visions for Logistics. As an integral part of the value chain, we want to position ourselves even more as the expert for operational logistics within the Group. The focus here is on sustainable, efficient, and digital processes. Exciting projects like drone-supported warehouse inventories and forklift automation are already part of our work.
