Noel, an IT professional at Evonik Singapore
Coming from an IT background, Noel was impressed with the emphasis that Evonik places on IT, although it is not the company’s core business. In this short video interview, he talks to us about his career in IT at Evonik Singapore.
What does human chemistry mean to you?
Chemistry is about how different components & structures work together to bring about transformation. I believe human chemistry is achieved when people, regardless of race, nationality, or gender, can come together to achieve what would otherwise be unachievable goals because they can focus on the strength each person brings and how to complement each other instead of the differences that could drive them apart.
Why did you join Evonik?
I joined Evonik because I got the impression that information technology (IT) is valued at Evonik, and having been here for almost 13 years, I am happy and proud to say that I have been proved right. For a company whose core business does not revolve around IT, the emphasis on continued investments and improvements in technology is truly impressive. Why am I still here? I’ve been fortunate to work with capable leaders who continued to provide me with opportunities to take on interesting challenges.
What is the best thing about your job?
There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the things you have helped design and build empower your colleagues to do their jobs well. You feel like you’re a part of a mission much bigger than your own scope.
What could you not do your job without and why?
Visionary leaders who set the tone and get the teams on the right path, and peers and colleagues who understand the power of moving forward as a team by working supportively and collaboratively with each other.
