Philips Way Into a Future Marketing and Sales Role

Philip is a participant in Evonik's International Sales and Marketing Program (ISAM). Throughout the program, candidates are meticulously prepared for future roles by aligning their strengths and interests with the diverse needs of Evonik's business lines.

Hi Philip. Could you share some background about yourself?

Philip: "Of course. My journey at Evonik began in 2017 when I started my apprenticeship as an industrial clerk in Hanau. Alongside this, I pursued a degree in Business Administration in Frankfurt. After completing my apprenticeship in 2020, I worked in our accounting department in Offenbach for two years. I then transitioned to a role as a Customer Service Representative for our Silica division until March 2023, when I had the opportunity to join the ISAM program.”

What has your journey in the ISAM program been like?

Philip: Intense. But in a good way. I've gained a deep understanding of our company, the markets we serve, and have met many incredible people. My first assignment in the program took me to Marl, where I worked on New Business Development for our High Performance Polymers. The second assignment brought me to Piscataway in the US, where I assisted our Silanes team with sustainability initiatives and competitive intelligence. Now, in my third and final assignment, I'm in Hamburg, working on marketing and communication strategies for our Care Solutions.

What are five key skills your colleagues would use to describe you?

Philip: My colleagues would describe me as someone with a hands-on mentality, leadership skills, adaptability, the ability to see the bigger picture, and a goal-oriented approach.
