Solution-Oriented Networking: Project Manager Verena
In her role as a project manager, Verena continuously expands her knowledge and network to effectively manage interfaces and tackle complex challenges.
What would be missing if you and your job didn't exist?
As a project manager, my core competency is connecting the right people and facilitating communication. I manage interfaces and keep track of all project aspects, such as scheduling, budgeting, and goals. This can become quite complex in international project teams with many (sometimes external) partners. Additionally, I solve problems that arise during projects, such as new regulatory requirements or changing customer needs. Especially in the field of sustainability, the framework conditions are continuously changing.
Is there anything that surprised you in your job?
In 2019, I transitioned from a small consulting firm with about 25 employees and a flat hierarchy to Evonik. I remember being frustrated by the speed and complexity of our processes at Evonik. However, I was and still am positively surprised by the constructive cross-hierarchy and cross-functional collaboration. A big thumbs up to the many experts at Evonik who are willing to share their knowledge.
What defines a job as a project manager at Evonik?
I enjoy the variety of project topics, which keeps the work dynamic and allows me to constantly learn new things, both professionally and personally. I regularly interact with colleagues, partners, and clients from diverse educational, cultural, and social backgrounds. I particularly value the collaborative effort in advancing our projects, where everyone contributes their unique strengths. This sense of making an impact with my work is a key motivator for me.
