Jamal: Fresh Know-How and Trust Meets Innovation 

Is there anything that has surprised you in your job? 

What really surprised me is the variety of projects and the openness to innovation! I am fascinated by how openly Evonik explores and implements new approaches that go beyond traditional solutions. This is evident in the support for projects and even more so in the trust Evonik places in engineers. For me, my colleagues are inspiring and motivate me every day. 

As a Trainee for Technology & Infrastructure you contribute to Evonik’s success. Is that correct? 

Yes, because I bring fresh know-how and an unbiased perspective. Combined with the experience of my colleagues, this allows us to keep our facilities running economically and safely. Without functional plant engineering, production would come to a halt. Innovation plays a crucial role in ensuring our quality remains high and we stay competitive. I work with different departments and bring various teams together. This allows me to explore different locations and gain valuable experience in diverse engineering tasks. Currently, I am managing projects in the field of electrical engineering as well as measurement and control technology. 

You said, “We go through this together.” What does that mean to you? 

Even as a trainee, I was given a lot of responsibility and trust from the beginning, knowing that I could always count on the support of my colleagues. It’s not just about professional learning but also about my personal development. What I appreciate most is being involved from A to Z: from the start of a project to its commissioning, I work alongside and see how my work directly impacts the facility. Through collaboration with my colleagues and access to the latest technologies and resources, I learn something new every day.
